Pair of White Meander Wall Lights by Casati & Ponzi for Raak, Netherlands, 1970s | In Store Only
This item is available to view and purchase at Smith Street Bazaar | 305 Smith Street Fitzroy, VIC, 3065
These extra large white 'Meander' wall lights, model C1615, designed by Maria Casati and Carlo Emanuele Ponzi for Raak Amsterdam, showcase functionality with playful aesthetics. Constructed from five stepped arced panes in white lacquered metal, the design promotes a unique interplay of light, as each section emits a gradient illumination. The clever bracket system allows these lights to be mounted in various orientations. As referenced in the Raak catalogue, the name "Meander" poetically encapsulates the fluidity of light— "Like a golden disc the sun sinks into the sea... Like a wide river light meanders along the wall..." This connection to natural elements infuses a serene quality into the design. Impressive as a single unit or when placed together to form a full circle or as a wave as seen in the original Raak catalogue. These sizeable and beautifully made wall lights were designed and made in the Netherlands in the 1970s.
Great vintage condition with some signs of age related wear. New wiring. Sourced from France.
Height 25 cm
Width 50 cm
